  What would the world be like if everybody was a Jehovah Witnesses

  on the news the other day they showed a young man after graduating from high school went out and got drunk and had a bad car accident.

  he was paralyze from the waist down.

  instead of going into deep depression of what he did to himself he started his life over and went to college and was involved in inventing a exoskeleton for disable people.

  Glander; you're absolutely right on your first point.

  I totally disagree with you on your second point. OUTLAW is perfectly justified in making any appropriate analogy to what a future world (of JWs) would be like. You, yourself, said that such a world would be like a Fundamentalist Theocracy (It is irrelevant whether it would be an Islamic or a Christian Dominionist Theocracy).

  was jesus a real living being?

  or, was he a myth, made up 60 to 70 years after the fact.. i for one believe he did exist.

  was the epicenter of oral traditions and overblown hype.

  From what I have read I've come to these conclusions:

  Jesus was a Jewish mystic and magician who believed that "The Kingdom of Heaven" was imminent. He believed that it was going to be preceded by miraculous healings. Those miracles would require "Faith" to initiate. He believed that God would not bring the Kingdom unless people reached out to Him in "Faith". He believed that no one had the "Faith" needed to start the miraculous chain of events that was necessary to bring about "The Kingdom of Heaven".

  Therefore, he developed the delusionary belief that he had a role to play by being a conduit for miracles and healing. Since miracles weren't real, but he wanted to believe that they could be, he started a ministry of faked miracles and healings hoping that he would impress and excite people to the point where they would develop enough "Faith" to spark real miracles.

  When thinking of "Faith" from Jesus' point of view, imagine Yoda instructing Luke Skywalker (Star Wars II) in how to use "The Force". Yoda says, "There is no think. Do or do not." (And didn't the trashed Millennium Falcon rise from the swamp?)

  To put it briefly, Jesus was a psychotic Jewish mystic/magician who sincerely thought he could spark the miracles that he thought were necessary to bring about "The Kingdom of God."

  Welcome to the board, BCK. Please don't be offended if I'm blunt. Before I respond, let me ask you. How long were you a witness and how old are you (approximately)?

  As for your statement that they are non violent you are obviously not familiar with them or have a handle on history or psychological and social realities in general. The Watchtower itself has said that Jehovah's Witnesses ARE NOT PACIFISTS because they are preaching the greatest war ever. They have said that if God ordered them to fight at Armageddon they would. The reason they do not fight in wars right now is because of their doctrine of neutrality. This is not their kingdom, so fighting in any nation's war is like an Argentinean fighting for the Chinese.

  Even without knowing that, a little bit of psychology, history, and common sense should allow one to expect that Jehovah's Witnesses-being totalitarian in nature-would become tyrannical if they had the opportunity to carve out a piece of sovereign territory.

  Having the same belief system did not better the world throughout Catholic dominated Medieval Europe. Quite the contrary, certain people were aching to break free of the tyrannical yoke of the Catholic Church. They were known as Protestants and there were lots of bloody wars between the two.

  what toys did you all ways want but couldnt have because you were a jw!

  i was lucky not to be born into the jw's, so i had pretty much every toy i wanted .... actionman (g.i joe) with all the guns, tanks wonderful 2nd world war uniforms, toy soldiers cavalry, indians, cowboys, knights,castles and forts.. six million dollar man, lone ranger and tonto, toy cars matchbox captin scarlett, thunder birds, loads of guns to run around playing war.. great days.

  (of course my sisters had dolls and prams, barbies cindys, play make up).

  i know having spoken to jws born into it certain toys were of limits for some kids.. a good friend told me how he loved action man and played with them constantly, until one day he came home and saw them all by the door in a. card board box.. when he asked his mum what she was doing.. she told him "do you really think jehovah wants you to play war, you can keep one of them but he cant have any guns and fight people".

  I believe in the ultimate conspiracy.

  Do they use Jehovah's name repeatedly because it's their name?

  i was thinking when reading another thread where it was mentioned how god's name was never used in the nt, but how often it is uttered in khs that it is used so often, not because we need to use his name, but because it is the name associated with their organization.

  it is their name really.

  could that be why it's used so often?.

  Walk Tall; that is an excellent observation.

  I thought of the same thing myself. One of the ways I thought about it, metaphorically, was that the name was nothing but the equivalent of a patriotic flag symbolizing their organization.

  Another way I described it had to do with how the brain registers information. It was the phrase "Jehovah's organization" and how the Witnesses automatically equate it with Jehovah himself. I remember reading in one of Franz books about a brother who was leaving the organization and was told by another brother, "Don't leave Jehovah!" No matter how often he was told the difference between Jehovah and the organization, he just couldn't make the distinction between the two. In my opinion, this has to do with the fact that Witnesses have the phrase "Jehovah's organization" repeated so often throughout their lives that the two words are probably located together in the same region of the brain. This would be even more likely if the Witness were raised in the religion during their formative years.

  This would suggest that, in their minds, the words "Jehovah" and "organization" are synonymous; like the words crap and shit are.

  Jehovah = Organization = Jehovah = Organization = Jehovah = Organization = Jehovah = Organization = . . .

  what's a polite way to ask a man to keep his hands to himself while conversing in a group with you?.

  this neighbor of mine and i were sitting in chairs on the deck with other people.. he always touched me whenever he said anything to me or i said anything to him.. it was as if he was using touch like an antenna to send and receive signals.. i didn't know what to do, so instead of risking embarrassment for us both, i did nothing but stand up and step away.. i stepped away after he attempted to caress my hamstrings on one leg.. *shudder*.

  wonder why 60+ year old men think that a woman being nice to him means she's hot for him.. also wonders why it's only the smoking, beer guzzling, scrawny, bony, and smelly old men who do that.. .
